Your name, your number and your email never travel with the message. The recipient sees the message and nothing about you. There is no “pay to reveal the sender” feature here — not for them, not for anyone, because it does not exist to be bought. We do not keep a record that could connect you to what you sent.
This is the real risk, and it’s the one most services ignore. People get recognised by how they write — a turn of phrase, a habit with punctuation, a typo they always make. So before you send, you can ask us to rephrase it: same meaning, same bluntness, none of your fingerprints. You see the rewrite and decide whether to use it.
The honest limit: rephrasing defeats style-matching. It cannot hide a detail only you and the recipient know. If your message references something three people in the world are aware of, think about that before you send it.
Anonymous is not the same as unaccountable. Every message is screened by an automated content filter before it goes anywhere, and we refuse threats, harassment and attempts to target someone who has asked not to be contacted. Anyone can opt out permanently at notonrecord.com/unsubscribe and after that nobody can pay any amount to reach them through us.
We try three times. If we still can’t reach them, you get your money back automatically — you don’t have to ask, and you don’t have to notice. That is also true if anything else goes wrong on our end. You pay for a delivered message, not for an attempt.
Some will — most people are wary of unknown numbers, and that’s sensible. Our calls come from one consistent, registered number rather than a rotating pool — which is what lets it build a reputation instead of looking like spam — and the call says what it is in the first few seconds instead of launching into a pitch. If it goes to voicemail you can have the message left there.
Sometimes the name is the thing stopping the message. An employee who can’t raise a safety problem without risking their job. Someone who wants a friend to hear one honest sentence about their drinking. A person who needs to say thank you to someone they can’t face. Removing the signature is often what lets the truth get said at all. Kindness doesn’t need a byline.
